Hello all my Spotter Friends,

At the beginning of the years, i lost a little bit the desire in spotting after 6 years of spotting. So i have do a break since January.

I want to test again my spotting desire soon, but not in LUX.

Does someone have a link to site who shows the spotting places in Rammstein ?

Thank you. Smile

Hello.

I am back from my Ramstein trip and to be honnest I did not find the correct spotting places ...

For the number 1 (I took the numbers from Mike's site), I took the exit 13, followed the "Airbase" signs, took a long staight road with a large parking on the right and then the roundabout before the base entry where I took the first exit and found a gate and a small road to the right ... but not sure it was the correct road ... moreover planes were landing on the other side of the runaway (just a question, is there any way to know before the runaway number ? 26 or 08 ?)

But for the second one, I took the exit 14, took the 3rd exit on the roundabout and then the first road on the left which enters the woods.
I also found a little parking with "plastic" blocks, drove a few hundred meters further and found a railway at the end of the runaway.
Where did I wrong ?
Can somebody give me the correct way to find the correct spots ?

Really thanks.

Concerning the runway 08, you were at the right place, no? It's been some time I was there but as you described it you just had to walk furter to the airbase. In fact you could park your car next to the Autobahmeisterei and walk. It's a little distance to walk, but normally you arrive at the fence/gate with view onto the runway.

Concerning the runway problem you can check the ATIS on 124.275. If you don't have a scanner check the the wind directions on www.wetter.de for example.

For the other side of the runway (26) you were at the right place. You need to park your car where the plastic blocks are. Because if you park it further the Police will ask you to remove the car. You need to continue on foot to the railway, then continue to the highway on the left an still continue parallel to the highway until you see on the right side an entrance into the woods. (its quite a disctance, about 500m) If you enter there you can find a clearance with view of approaching planes. If you go to the fence you have a view onto departing plances.

I hope this helped a litle bit more. I know most of the bases are very difficult to access, and the description (mine too) are sometimes difficult to understand as most of the places are not accessible and you need to walk around a little bit.

Another help is Google Earth, very useful in finding spotting places!
