A few more shots from the ramp this morning, Tuesday 22nd November 2011.
Note the rear cargo door on this MD-11F rather than the usual front one:

Loaded a helicopter onboard today, bound for the states. It was a Bell 412 registered 5N-BDD:

Lastly, one of Cargolux's ramp vehicles....

That Suzuki seems to be in dire need of VI@GRA!

Oh, maybe some of you will be interested by the fact that that Bell 412 was at some point in Nigeria... Quite a traveler!

There can be a few litres in them but normally they are quite empty. They are always shipped as Hazmat, that it hazardous material. Even the engine, if it was shipped on it's own would be classified as hazmat as there may be residual fuel left in it. I have been very tempted on more than one occasion to turn the key Smile regards clive.

Hi Superspotter Clive,
I was wondering, those flights that you documented with the Lambos and Ferraris, did they go to the US west coast? The reason making me ask is that those cars are basically manufactured within shouting distance from MXP wherefrom CLX is operating to JFK.
And, yes, I know airfreight sometimes takes strange paths but eventhough I was wondering why those cars make it thru LUX.

Thanks for your insider knowledge.

Stay ... dry Wink

Hi FWA;
You are correct in your assumption! The routes we are undertaking for CLX from LUX are ORD-Chicago, IND-Indianapolis, LAX-Los Angeles, SEA-Seattle and YYC-Calgary. Most of the cars are heading for LAX but the odd one makes it to SEA. Another two cars made the trip last night (Sunday), another Ferrari FF and a Zagato. regards clive.

A few more cars including a Mclaren. There was a Ferrari FF next to the Mclaren but they are getting so common onboard now, I didnt bother taking a pic of it Smile But first, the weirdest "car" I have ever had onboard. Ugly, no steering wheel, hideous etc etc.....:

This was the underside of the bonnet:

Lastly, another weird one. Old, untouched engine but with a couple of stupid additions inside like a steering wheel made of chromed chain....

regards clive.
